Nerandomilast (BI-1015550) is a novel, selective phosphodiesterase 4B (PDE4B) inhibitor being developed for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and progressive pulmonary fibrosis (PPF) . It demonstrates a ninefold preferential inhibitory activity towards PDE4B versus PDE4D, with anti-inflammatory and antifibrotic activity and improved tolerability . Phase III clinical trials (FIBRONEER-IPF and FIBRONEER-ILD) have been conducted, with results announced in 2025 .
